From September 23–25 in Łódź, the 21st International Conference and Exhibition of the Paper Industry – PROGRESS 2025 – took place under the theme “Ecosystems of the Paper and Packaging Industry – A Strategy for the Future.”
This year’s edition brought together representatives from industry, academia, government, and trade organizations to discuss the key challenges and development directions of the sector. The conference program included four main thematic sessions:
- Responsible Industry – including extended producer responsibility, regulations for energy-intensive industries, circularity, and waste collection efficiency.
- Environmental and Legislative Challenges – ESG, CCUS, FSC certification, and legislation concerning materials in contact with food.
- Technology and Process Optimization – digital services, innovative chemical and technical solutions, water loop closure, automation.
- Corrugated Board – Challenges and Opportunities – European legislation, hybrid papers, CO₂ emission reduction, modern production systems.
For the first time, the PROGRESS conference also featured a discussion panel focused on workforce education.
